Congressman Mac Collins (Ret. R-GA)
P.O. Box 9645
Warner Robins, GA 31095

The Honorable Congressman Bob Goodlatte
Chairman of the House Committee on Agriculture
1301 Longworth Building
Washington, D.C. 20515

May 16, 2006

Dear Chairman Goodlatte:

I am writing you to request your support for Congressman Jack Kingston’s amendment calling for the continued peanut storage and handling fees programs that is included in the Agriculture, Rural Development, Food and Drug Administration, and Related Agencies Appropriations Act for Fiscal Year 2007.

You are well aware that the great state of Georgia is the largest producer of peanuts in the United States. Congressman Kingston’s amendment is necessary to extend the peanut storage and handling fees program through 2007. The failure of this amendment to pass will cost Georgia’s peanut farmers 42 million dollars over the next two years. Such a situation would have a harmful effect on Georgia’s economy and is unacceptable.

As a friend and colleague, I respectfully request you do all that is in your power to assure the passage of Congressman Kingston’s amendment.

Congressman Mac Collins (Ret R-GA)
