Letter to the Editor regarding Mac Collins

Letter to the Editor Published on June 19, 2006 in The Macon Telegraph:

Back Mac Collins

I was very impressed by your coverage of Gov. Sonny Perdue's visit to Houston County in support of former Congressman Mac Collins. Gov. Perdue clearly understands the need for continued Republican representation in the area surrounding Robins Air Force Base.

On his blog, Perdue writes: "If we're going to restore fiscal discipline to Washington like we did to Georgia, and continue to stand against the evildoers that want to destroy our nation, we need to send men like Mac Collins to Congress. He's the best man to represent us and the hard working citizens in his district."

I could not agree more. The governor clearly understands the economy of Houston County is heavily dependant on who represents Robins Air Force Base in the next Congress. The people of the new 8th district have a clear choice to make between a junior member of the minority party who has twice voted for Rep. Nancy Pelosi for Speaker of the House or a member of the majority party that returns to Congress with 12 years seniority.
